"A picture is worth a thousand words" is a reference taken from the thought that a complex idea can be expressed with just a single still image.  Or has the Russian writer Ivan Turgenev wrote (in Fathers and Sons in 1862), "A picture shows me at a glance what it takes dozens of pages of a book to expound." ​

No matter how you express it, the ability to communcate to the world with photographs is rewarding. It opens the path to express the art and talent a photographer has without having to dot an "i" or cross a "t".
